Top Tips:
- Share your plans with someone you trust, including your destination and expected return time
- Use a buddy system and check in with each other throughout the night
- Agree on a meeting point in case anyone gets separated
- Before changing locations, confirm everyone knows the plan
- Never assume someone left safely but verify that each person has a safe ride or trusted companion
- Create a code word or emoji that means “call me,” “come get me,” or “I need help”
- Have enough money on you to arrange for your own transportation if need be
- Ensure your phone is fully charged before going out and carry a portable charger if able
- Do not leave an impaired friend alone or send them home without someone you know and trust
- If someone is unconscious, difficult to wake, vomiting repeatedly, breathing slowly or irregularly call emergency services immediately
- Always trust your discomfort and don’t feel the need to remain somewhere simply to avoid appearing rude
